Direct container service opened at Tianjin and Guangzhou ports

Tianjin Port Group and Guangzhou Port Group signed an agreement to open a direct route between Tianjin Port and Guangzhou Port to reduce transshipment.

This is part of Tianjin Port's FAST (Freight, Accuracy, Saving, Team) plan to accelerate container transportation.

China’s liner operators, such as COSCO Shipping Lines’ internal Asian subsidiaries, Shanghai Pan Asia Shipping, Zhonggu Logistics and Antong Holdings, as well as local Chinese Trawind Shipping, the general non-vessel carrier, also signed the agreement.

Tianjin Port Group Chairman Chu Bin said that in recent years, Tianjin and Guangzhou have become the busiest ports in northern and southern China, handling 30% of domestic cargo. In 2020, the traffic volume between the two ports will be 1.38 million TEU.

Chu said that compared with the traditional shipping mode, FAST's core advantages are fast, reliable, and efficient, and shorten the voyage time by more than 10%. He pointed out that "Tianjin and Guangzhou ports are important logistics nodes in China's north-south transportation corridor."
