Guangzhou Customs uncovered 22 million cigar smuggling case

Recently, Guangzhou Customs organized a special operation to crack down on “online water passengers” in the delivery channel, knocked out a criminal gang that smuggled cigars through the delivery channel, arrested 3 criminal suspects, and seized a batch of suspected smuggled cigars and tobacco leaves on the spot. The value of the case is about 22 million yuan.

It is reported that in the early stage, Guangzhou Customs used information technology such as big data modeling to find suspicious clues involving cigar smuggling. The Anti-smuggling Bureau of the Customs used the "smart anti-smuggling" system to carry out detailed investigations on smuggling gangs' sourcing, customs clearance, and sales, and quickly grasped the basic criminal facts of the smuggling gangs and accurately locked the gang members.

The customs anti-smuggling police check the seized smuggled cigars

In this operation, with the assistance of the Guangzhou Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, Guangzhou Customs carried out investigations and arrested 3 suspects in one fell swoop, and seized a batch of suspected smuggled cigars and tobacco leaves on the spot. After investigation, a smuggling gang headed by Lin Moumou ordered cigars produced in Cuba and other countries from an overseas website, and was "smuggled into pieces" in the name of personal belongings through international mail and express channels. At the same time, it was suspected of falsely reporting the name of the product and the low price. After quoting prices, domestic cargo owners actually collect mail and express mail and concentrate on illegal sales in the country for profit.

At present, the above-mentioned case is under further investigation.
