Hong Kong Airlines may lay off more than a thousand more employees

According to a report on the Hong Kong East Net on the 7th, it is reported that Hong Kong Airlines may lay off more than 1,000 employees. According to reports, Hong Kong Airlines will ground the A320 type passenger aircraft, which mainly serves the inland routes, and the number of flights to and from Shanghai will also be reduced to once a week.

It is reported that Hong Kong Airlines is formulating a layoff plan, which may reduce the current manpower by half, or about 1,000, and the front-line personnel may be greatly affected. According to reports, in the next two days, Hong Kong Airlines will not officially announce any details, and the relevant plans will be finalized within this week. According to the website of Hong Kong Airlines, there are currently 32 passenger aircrafts, 12 of which are A320s.

Hong Kong Airlines had already fallen into a financial crisis the year before. It was alleged that it was in arrears with the cost of leased aircraft. It was also required by the Hong Kong Air Transport License Bureau to submit a financial improvement plan, otherwise it may be nailed. Although Hong Kong Airlines later escaped, it suffered a new coronary artery disease outbreak and its business suffered heavy losses. Even if the two-phase employment guarantee program approved about 150 million Hong Kong dollars, it still needs to lay off staff and reduce expenditure. Data show that Hong Kong Airlines layoffs twice last year, about 650 people.
