Maersk to acquire U.S. warehousing and distribution company

  •    Danish shipping group Mueller-Maersk said on Wednesday it has agreed to acquire Performance Team, a US warehousing and distribution company, as part of a plan to provide more customized logistics solutions.

Maersk said the transaction was worth $ 545 million, including about $ 225 million in lease debt.

目标 The goal of the world's largest container shipping company is to increase revenues from its inland logistics business (ie non-marine business). In 2018, marine transportation business accounted for almost 80% of core revenue.

"This will enhance our ability to provide products and solutions that meet the needs of the client-to-end supply chain," said Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk Ocean Logistics.

Although Maersk Shipping's throughput is about one-fifth, it handles land transportation from ports to warehouses and distribution centers for less than one-quarter of its customers.
